When can I expect to get pregnant?
Both of you will be subjected to basic investigations first. Accordingly, you will be offered treatment. Each treatment option has a substantial percentage of success.
Will I be able to achieve pregnancy at all?
You will be investigated in depth to find out the cause of your infertility. Accordingly you may be classified into any one of the three groups – Very favourable, favourable and unfavorable.With the advancement in ART procedures we can solve 85% of the problem.
What is my problem? Is It curable?
We like to find out your cause of infertility and accordingly treatment options will be discussed in detail.
Can I try any other option before the IVF procedure?
When you talk about any other option, actually you are looking for an alternative choice We like to consider the best option depending on the client’s clinical profile.
Dr. I don't like to undergo any operation. What can I do now?
Operation is suggested either to confirm diagnosis or to enhance your reproductive capacity.
I was diagnosed with a case of PCOS. Can it be cured?
As PCOS has some genetic background, expression of the disease can be modified by medications and lifestyle changes only.
If I am having PCU, what are my chances of getting pregnant?
PCOS Is an important cause of infertility due to anovulation or infrequent ovulation. It can be managed easily by ovulation Inducing agents mostly. Resistant PCOS women may require an IVF procedure as well.
Should I go for surgery if I have PCOS?
PCOS is a medically manageable condition; rarely ovarian drilling surgery may be offered to a certain subset of PCOS women.
Doctor has suggested that I lose weight. I am trying my best without having any improvement. What should I do?
Ten Percent weight reduction of existing bodyweight can correct 70% of hormonal imbalance.So It is important to try multiple interventions simultaneously to have the desired effect.
I have a blocked tube- what can I do now?
Either surgical intervention or ART process can be offered to you depending on your clinical history.
I have heard that the tube testing (HSG) procedure is very painful- what can I do next?
Often in the presence of tubal pathology the HSG procedure may be painful. Prior administration of analgesics reduces the problem significantly.
What are the tube testing procedures?
Tubal assessment can be done by saline infusion sonography(SIS), Hysterosalpingography(HSG) and Laparoscopy. Most of the IVF clinics do not offer SIS nowadays.
What is SIS? How helpful is it?
It is a non-invasive procedure used to detect pathology arising from uterine cavity or fallopian tube. It is not that promising to detect tubal pathology.
When should I go for HSG?
Your doctor is the great judge to offer you HSG depending on your clinical profile.
Why should I go for laparoscopy/hysteroscopy?
It is the gold standard procedure to evaluate the relationship and pathology of your reproductive organs.
When should I go for a laparoscopy?
There are certain indications like i) abnormal HSG ii)Inability to conceive even after 6 months of normal HSG study iii) History suggestive of tubal pathology iv) women with painful menstrual who required tubal assessment.
Is laparoscopy a complicated procedure?
It is one of the commonly performed procedures by gynaecologists.
I am 25 years old and the doctor is saying my ovary is functioning poorly- How can I improve it?
As you are diagnosed of having ovarian insufficiency / poor ovarian reserve hardly anything is going to change the scenario in a big way.
What are the treatment options for women with poor ovarian reserve?
Donor oocyte IVF programme is the best treatment option in this case.
I have planned to get married at 40 years i.e; 10 years from now - how can I secure my reproductive performance?
You can think about oocyte cryopreservation that will be of great help to you.
What is the success rate of IUI?
Success rate of IUI varies depending on its indication,15-20% success rate is considered as a reasonably good outcome.
How many times can I do that?
You should go for about 3 cycles before considering some other treatment option. Beyond 6 cycles rarely it is being done.
What is the success rate of the IVF process?
Once again IVF success rate is also influenced by several factors like age of the women, cause of infertility, ovarian response, embryo quality etc. you can consider 40 – 50% success rate in each cycle to be reasonably good.
How can I improve my success rate?
Single most important step is making the right choice at right time with right set of professionals.
How much does it cost?
It is variable. It all depends on the commercial policy of an institution. The cost of IVF procedure is divided into three major areas i)IVF procedure cost ii)Medication iii) Investigation.
How long can I preserve my embryos?
Good quality embryos can be preserved for 3 years.
How many embryos are usually given?
It all depends on institutional policy or clinician’s preference mostly. Mostly 3 embryos are given in case of day 3 embryo transfer. Nowadays single good quality blastocyst (day 5 embryo) transfer is being preferred to reduce the incidence of multifetal pregnancy.
Is there any chance of mismatch of my embryos?
It is extremely rare as verification of personal id is taken into consideration several times during the process.
Can I have any preference of gender during the IVF procedure?
Gender preference goes against the law of land and is not practised in India.
Can I choose my sperm donor?
The sperm donor has to be anonymous, Therefore it is beyond the scope of yours
Can I choose my oocyte donor?
Yes you can have full access to your oocyte donor.
I am running out of eggs and my womb has been removed recently, I want my sister to help me get the procedure done?
Single woman can not provide both the services- oocyte donor and surrogate. You need to engage two women to solve your problem.
I am single, can I have a baby?
Through IVF procedure or IUI you can have a baby of your own.
Doctor I have a Chocolate cyst on both of my ovaries- what should I do? I would like to have my baby ASAP?
Bilateral chocolate cystotomy with fertility enhancing surgery, if indicated, should be done without much delay. Conception rate following optimum surgery is about 40% within the first 2 years of surgery.
Do I have the chance of getting a chocolate cyst again?
Even after optimum surgery for endometrioma you can expect about 25% chance of recurrence rate within 2 years of surgery.
How Endometriosis is causing infertility?
Endometriosis can adversely affect all reproductive functions like poor ovarian reserve,anovulation ,LUF embryotoxicity, poor implantation, infrequent intercourse due to dyspareunia etc.
Should I plan my pregnancy early?
Women with endometriosis are often encouraged to complete their family early.
Is IVF the only treatment if I wish to have a pregnancy?
In minimal and early endometriosis pregnancy may be achieved spontaneously or with minimal interventions. Advanced endometriosis often requires Art procedure.
What is the success rate of IVF for Endometriosis patients?

Chance of conception remains high following optimum surgical intervention. Recurrent; endometriosis carries a poor outcome even in the ART cycle.

Is it a genetic disease?
Several studies are in favour of its genetic basis and family tendency. Endometriosis is likely to run in the family and common in twin sisters.
Are there any side effects of IVf procedure?
Side effects are mostly minor and infrequent. Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome is potentially life threatening if it is not anticipated early and managed accordingly.
What about pregnancy outcome following ART?
Miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, twin pregnancy, prematurity, preterm birth and surgical interventions are on higher side in pregnanc achieved through ART procedure.
I am a working lady, can I opt for surrogacy?
Surrogacy should be offered to you by your reproductive health specialist on definite medical surgical ground.
I want to have twins, how can I have it?
Chance of having twin pregnancy is more with ART Procedure. But it neither can be opted nor can be ensured.
